Kamila in New York.

Kamila in New York.

There is something extraordinary about the light in NYC - it seems monumental, uncompromising, almost substantial. The sun might just feel different upon entering The City.

This picture reminds me of Edward Hopper's work and the way he depicted light - its almost physical presence in a strong contrast with the gloomy atmosphere of his paintings. That's what I call Hopper's "dark light".

Kamila, captured in late afternoon sun inside MoMA PS1, Queens.
